Jerry Passmore paid tribute to Linda Tuday for her service to the Aging Board as the
Triangle United Way staff representative. The minutes of the December 14 joint session were
approved by consensus with the addition of Mary Ann Peter to the list of those present. Ann
Johnson suggested that the minutes of future meeting distinguish between the members and
staff/guests present.

The decision made at the December Aging Board meeting to change the monthly meeting time to
the first Friday morning was reviewed. Jerry Passmore recommended that, based upon the
responses from those board members absent when that decision was made, the meeting time be
returned to the second Wednesday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m.. Fred Schroeder made the
motion and Jan Wassel the second. Motion carried.

Myra Austin distributed a Wellness Program quarterly report and referenced the new ‘Bones for
Life’ class scheduled for Central Orange Senior Center. She also announced that William
Friday will be the guest speaker at the University Mall’s Senior Striders first anniversary session
in March. Other activities mentioned included Senior Games, the MAP Well-Fit subcommittee,
and the 919 flu shots given at the three senior centers and two service sites combined last Fall.

Orange Congregations in Mission staffperson Kay Stagner announced that the Meals On Wheels
Coordinator position was vacant again. Ann Johnson suggested that OCIM consider applying for
federal and state funding to supplement the service.

Steve Lackey gave a report on the recent United Way campaign. The Orange County Cabinet
has decided to continue the emergency response fund at the same level as in 2005, even though
the funds were under-utilized. Each issue team will be making funding decisions within its
subcategory. The process for changing the allocation methodology has been postponed. Jan
Wassel asked if emergency response funding could be available for the Senior Times publication
budget crisis. Jerry Passmore was
encouraged to submit an application for consideration. Linda Tuday will provide him the form
and guidelines. Discussion followed on factors that should be considered in determining the
percentage of United Way funds devoted to senior services.
