1 <br /> <br />APPROVED 2/6/2018 MINUTES <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />January 23, 2018 <br />7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, January 23, <br />2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Building, in Hillsborough, N.C. <br /> <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Dorosin and Commissioners Mia Burroughs, <br />Barry Jacobs, Earl McKee, Mark Marcoplos, Renee Price and Penny Rich <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br />COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br />Travis Myren and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker (All other staff members will be identified <br />appropriately below) <br /> <br /> Chair Dorosin called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. <br /> <br />1. She is <br />largely self -taught and well mentored. Ms. Peacock is the author of the novels Life Without <br />Water (chosen as a New York Times Notable Book), Home Across the Road, and The Life and <br />Times of Persimmon Wilson, as well as the memoir and “writing-in-the-real-world” guide A <br />Broom of One’s Own: Words on Writing, Housecleaning and Life. Ms. Peacock runs writing <br />workshops and retreats for women. Her free Prompt Writing Class has been active since 2003, <br />and continues to gain in popularity. Ms. Peacock believes that telling stories, our own and those <br />we invent, is a human right that we must all claim to heal our hurt world.
