I completed a graduate <br />practicum by serving as a community planning intern with the Orange County Department on <br />Aging. I am now employed with a UNC public health research group which conducts research <br />primarily in geriatric long -term care settings (both nursing homes and adult care homes /assisted <br />living) <br />Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br />As project coordinator, I do not spend as much time in the field as the data collectors (my <br />supervisees) do. I feel disconnected from community based work in my research role and would <br />like an opportunity to re- engage in a more direct way. With that being said, I do maintain an <br />interest in policy and state -level decisions that influence the long -term care industry and aging <br />populations.
