Me <br />November 27, 2017 <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />c/o Thom Freeman, Assistant to the Clerk to the Board <br />200 South Cameron St. <br />PO Box 8181 <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />Dear Thom Freeman and GoTriangle Transit Citizen Advisory Committee, <br />I would like to apply to be a member for Orange County for the GoTriangle Transit Citizen Advisory <br />Committee. <br />I have lived in Orange County, a little ways outside Hillsborough City limits, for the last 10 years. For <br />several years in the past, I used public transportation every week day. The routes I have taken are not direct, using <br />transfers and multiple transit systems. Starting next year when my office moves to downtown Raleigh, I will again <br />be taking public transportation on a daily basis. <br />I have taken public transportation the past in other cities. I have been taking public transit on and off since I was a <br />small child with my mother growing up in Pittsburgh, PA. I worked my way through college and graduate school, <br />and with public transportation, I was able to work and go to school, without the added expense of a private <br />vehicle. I also took public transit when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. I took Caltrain to work for many years <br />with the benefit of connecting shuttles to business parks, or walked from the train station to work. I took public <br />transportation as a means to cut costs, and it allowed us to be a one - vehicle family for many years. I think my <br />experience with public transportation in the Triangle and other places would benefit the Transit Citizen Advisory <br />Committee. I also feel that I bring additional benefit to the committee, as a research librarian with <br />experience with transportation resources, I would be a unique addition to the committee. <br />I look forward to hearing from you about the opportunity to be a member ofthe GoTriangle Transit Citizen <br />Advisory Committee for Orange County. <br />Sincerely, <br />l <br />Jayse A.
