e Y ~C''3~ `x. ~r / ~.StY'~ <br />The Design Response, Ir2c. <br />May 30, 2006 <br />Eddie Kirk <br />Orange County Planning Department <br />306F Revere Road <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />Re: Response to Carrboro's April 18a' Alternative Water Point for Westhampton Request Memo <br />Dear Eddie: <br />As we have discussed, in response to Deputy Chief Travis Crabtree's April 18a' memo to Mike <br />Tapp, we have researched alternative water points for' the Westhampton subdivision and located <br />the following sources of water within the requested 1.5 miles of distance from Westhampton: <br />- there is an operable fire hydrant on the OWASA system located 0.6 miles from the <br />Westhampton entrance, just west of Hatch Road's intersection with NC 54. <br />- there is an existing pond that is accessible to Cazrboro's fire department as a water <br />source within Carrboro's Hank Anderson Pazk, located 1.5 miles from Westhampton on <br />the north side of NC 54, <br />In a telephone conversation with Deputy Chief Travis Crabtree, some interest was also expressed <br />in perhaps converting any stormwater ponds that Westhampton might have to be alternative <br />water points, However, it was pointed out to Deputy Chief Crabtree that due to the extremely <br />low impervious surface limit required within the University Lake watershed protection azea, that <br />Westhampton does not have any stormwater ponds.
