Hills - Buckwalter Lane, the access into the subdivision off Richmond Road, and Alice Millar <br />Court - to the State Maintained System in February 2003. <br />NCDOT has investigated these requests (please refer to attached Secondary Road Addition <br />Reports) and has submitted the petitions to the Board of Commissioners for its review and <br />recommendation. In accordance with North Carolina General Statute §136 -62 *, the Board must <br />take an administrative action to make a recommendation regarding the petitions to the North <br />Carolina Board of Transportation before the NC Board of Transportation ( NCBOT) can consider <br />the petitions. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no direct financial impact associated with this item, <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the Petitions for <br />Addition for Willow Oak Drive, Scarlet Oak Lane and Boundbrook Drive, and recommend that <br />the NCBOT add those subdivision roads to the State Maintained System. <br />North Carolina General Statute §136 -62 directs that "The citizens of the State shall have the right to present <br />petitions to the board of county commissioners, and through the board to the Department of Transportation, <br />concerning additions to the system and improvement of roads. The board of county commissioners shall receive <br />such petitions, forwarding them on to the Board of Transportation with their recommendations . <br />
