1 <br /> <br />APPROVED 1/23/2018 <br /> MINUTES <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />December 4, 2017 <br />7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, December 4, <br />2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Building, in Hillsborough, N.C. <br /> <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Dorosin and Commissioners Mia Burroughs, <br />Barry Jacobs, Earl McKee, Mark Marcoplos, Renee Price and Penny Rich <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br />COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br />COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br />Travis Myren and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker (All other staff members will be identified <br />appropriately below) <br /> <br /> Chair Dorosin called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. <br /> <br />Board Organization <br /> <br />a. Election of Chair and Vice-Chair <br /> <br />CHAIR: <br />VOTE: 7-0 (UNANIMOUS) for Mark Dorosin. <br /> <br /> VICE CHAIR: <br /> VOTE: 7-0 (UNANIMOUS) for Penny Rich <br /> <br />b. Designation of Voting Delegate for all North Carolina Association of County <br />Commissioners (NCACC) and National Association of Counties (NACo) Meetings <br />for Calendar Year December 1, 2017-2018 <br /> <br />Chair Dorosin said he sent an email to the Board about tabling this item until the boards <br />and commissions are chosen in February. <br />Commissioner Price said she checked with the NCACC, and this can be done at <br />anytime. <br />Chair Dorosin said Commissioner Price serves in both seats, and would continue to <br />serve in those seats until then. <br />Commissioner McKee said it was his understanding that the Board had decided to <br />change the picking of boards and commissions to November, starting in 2018. He said given <br />this change, he would prefer Commissioner Price remain in these positions, and make any <br />changes in November 2018. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Rich, seconded by Commissioner Marcoplos to <br />delay these appointments until February. <br /> <br />VOTE: Ayes, 6; Nays, 1 (Commissioner McKee)
