5 <br />1 <br />Commissioner Price said she attended a re-entry conference last week,and she was <br />2 <br />unaware that Orange County has a program called COORE: Coordinated Opioid Overdose <br />3 <br />Reduction Effort. She applauded this effort. <br />4 <br />CommissionerPrice said she was selected to attend the Stepping Up Initiative Peer <br />5 <br />Exchange, in Phoenix, AZ. She said she would share this information with CaitlinFenhagen, <br />6 <br />Criminal Justice Resource Director. <br />7 <br />Commissioner McKee had no comments. <br />8 <br />Commissioner Jacobs saidCommissioner Hutchinson from Wake County hasorganized <br />9 <br />a meeting next week aboutthe local agricultural economy, and Orange County will attend with <br />10 <br />the goalof creatingpartnerships with other entities. <br />11 <br />Commissioner Jacobs saluted Chair Dorosin in thathe has had to endure an ideological <br />12 <br />attack on his employment,and he appreciated the work that he has done and will do. He saidit <br />13 <br />is not easy to be the subject of abuse from higher authorities. <br />14 <br />Commissioner Rich thanked staff for organizingtwo farmbreakfasts in the past 2 <br />15 <br />weeks. <br />16 <br />Commissioner Rich said there was aNorth Carolina Department of Transportation <br />17 <br />(NCDOT)meeting last week, and there are some changes coming about: intersection ofroutes <br />18 <br />70/86 will have a right hand turn lane, and item 8-f on the consent agenda shows another <br />19 <br />change. <br />20 <br />Commissioner Rich said sheattended a Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) <br />21 <br />meeting this past week,and the intake of children has gone up recently. She said intake <br />22 <br />typically rises at this time of year. <br />23 <br />Commissioner Rich said she and staff meet regularly about Broadband and Information <br />24 <br />Technology,andthere will hopefully be an updateto the Boardsoon. <br />25 <br />Commissioner Burroughs referred to theLegislative Issues Work Group (LIWG), and <br />26 <br />said it will be important to put forth the dire issue ofmore capitalfundsfor schools. <br />27 <br />Commissioner Marcoplos had no comments. <br />28 <br />Chair Dorosin said it is time to appoint a Commissioner to the Cardinal Innovations <br />29 <br />Nominating Committee. He said this committee that will nominate people to serve on the <br />30 <br />Cardinal Oversight Board.
