These include education, <br />public safety, human and community services, etc. In fiscal year 2015, Orange County spent <br />$201.596 million. Some of these expenditures are for county wide services while others might <br />be more locally targeted. Figure 6 breaks out the different categories of spending. The largest <br />expenditure for the county is education spending which is almost 4 out of every 10 dollars. <br />These education expenditures are for county schools (which are different from municipal <br />schools) and for the Orange Campus of Durham Tech. This is followed by human services and <br />public safety. Human services includes, but is not limited to, programs such as child support, <br />social services, libraries, and the county health department. Public safety is focused on <br />emergency services and the sheriff's office. Spending by municipalities on their police force <br />would not be included here.
