<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 1 <br /> <br /> <br />OPERATING AND PROTOCOLS GUIDELINES FOR TRANSIT <br />CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br /> <br />Purpose <br /> The purpose of this committee (hereinafter “committee”) is to contribute <br />information and advice to the Research Triangle Regional Public <br />Transportation Authority d/b/a GoTriangle Board of Trustees (hereinafter <br />“Board”) on current and emerging issues associated with planning and <br />providing a high quality transit network that serves the needs of the Triangle <br />community. <br /> This committee serves at the discretion of the GoTriangle Board of Trustees. <br />GoTriangle may amend, change, or terminate the structure of this committee <br />at its discretion. <br /> <br /> <br />GoTriangle’s Vision and Mission Statement <br /> To make exceptional public transportation the foundation of the region’s <br />community, prosperity, and mobility. <br /> GoTriangle improves our region’s quality of life by connecting people and <br />places with safe, useful, reliable, and easy-to-use travel choices. <br /> Consistent with the GoTriangle 2017-2021 Strategic Plan, the Committee will help <br />GoTriangle achieve the goal of assuring high quality customer service through <br />actively engaging communities we serve. <br /> <br /> <br />Committee’s Roles and Responsibilities <br /> Members will be made up of citizens from the Triangle community. <br />Members are responsible for understanding and staying within the bounds of <br />the committee’s roles and responsibilities. This committee’s role is to: <br /> <br />Provide advice and feedback to the Board on current and emerging <br />issues associated with planning and providing a high quality transit <br />network. Such advice may consider: planning for public <br />transportation systems; views of various constituent groups; <br />suggesting how transit can assist with equity issues, such as <br />homelessness, affordable housing, economic opportunity, individuals <br />with handicaps and/or disabilities, and seniors; providing information <br />regarding the customer experience of transit riders; communicating <br />stakeholder opinions, attitudes, and needs to the Board and identify <br />areas of concern and recommend changes. <br />3
