GOTRIANGLE TRANSIT CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE APPLICATION
The purpose of this committee is to advise the GoTriangle Board of Trustees (hereinafter “Board”)
on current and emerging issues associated with planning and providing a high-quality transit
network that serves the needs of our entire community.
Please complete the information below to apply to serve on the Advisory Committee.
____________________________________________________________________________________
Name:
Address:
City:
State/ZIP:
*County:
*(Please note that you must reside in Wake, Durham or Orange County to be appointed to the
Committee.)
Home phone:
Cell phone:
Education:
Current employment:
Licenses held:
References (limit of 3):

Do you use public transit? That includes 8 years in Washington, DC and 6 months
car-free in Chapel Hill. Additionally, in Chapel Hill, there was a period of about 3 years in which I used transit daily. I now
take the CRX a few times a month and also use Chapel Hill Transit a few times per month.
I have spent many, many hours on public transit and plan on continuing to do so.
One measurement of the affordability of an area is the amount that people need to spend on housing and transportation
combined. Poor households often spend a high percentage of their income on transportation. Public transit that connects
low-income areas with jobs and schooling reduce the need for as many cars per household. HUD and USDOT recommend
that an area be considered affordable if residents spend less than 45% of their income on housing & transportation.
Some people with disabilities are not able to drive. For these individuals, public transit offers increased mobility options. It
helps people getting to jobs, healthcare, entertainment, and shopping. Depending on the individuals' abilities, both fixed
route and paratransit are crucial parts of the system to help people with disabilities
15
