In the late Nannie Blackwood's honor, visitors will be greeted by "Nannie", the <br /> mascot frog. A local artist created "Nannie" and the original artwork that will guide visitors <br /> and students along the trail with thought provoking questions or comments about each <br /> ' ,' :' station. Whimsical signage and activities at the stations will teach visitors about wetlands <br /> /��� - `"" and aquatic animal habitat, river basins, soils, water quality and pollinators. Trail visitors 4 4' <br /> ' 44000 <br /> can check out a self-guided tour brochure that will correlate with the nine trail stations using <br /> readymade lessons to follow. <br /> The Plan of Action is to provide environmental education for youth by creating a child-friendly trail in the park. <br /> The Orange Soil and Water Conservation Board approved $5,000 for this environmental educational trail. The <br /> NC Foundation of Soil and Water has donated $2,500. The Piedmont Conservation Council (PCC) is <br /> continuously seeking grant funds for this worthwhile project. <br />
