9 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br /> July 27, 2017 <br /> To the Orange County Board of Commissioners: <br /> On March 21, 2017 the Orange County Board of Commissioners voted to appoint <br /> Anthony Carey to serve a partial term on the Orange County Economic Development advisory <br /> board, thus filling an empty seat that was vacated by another member who had recently <br /> resigned. Mr. Carey is the highly regarded general manager of the Siena Hotel in Chapel Hill, <br /> and is now the new Economic Development advisory board's member serving in the <br /> hotel/restaurant &tourism sector. <br /> On May 16, 2017 the Orange County Board of Commissioners voted to appoint Anthony <br /> Carey as the Orange County Economic Development Advisory Board's liaison to the Chapel <br /> Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau advisory board. That action temporarily filled an open seat <br /> on the Visitors Bureau board, for a term that will be ending in December of this year. <br /> On behalf of Jim Kitchen, Chair of the Orange County Economic Advisory Board, and <br /> with his approval received, I would now like to ask the Board of County Commissioners to <br /> reappoint Anthony Carey to his first three-year term as the Economic Development advisory <br /> board's liaison to the Visitors Bureau's advisory board, thereby continuing in his current role <br /> serving in that manner.
