1 <br /> APPROVED 12/4/2017 <br /> MINUTES <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> November 20, 2017 <br /> 7:00 p.m. <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, November <br /> 20, 2017 at 7:00p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center in Chapel Hill, N.C. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Dorosin and Commissioners Mia Burroughs, <br /> Barry Jacobs, Earl McKee, Mark Marcoplos, Renee Price and Penny Rich <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley and Clerk to the Board <br /> Donna Baker (All other staff members will be identified appropriately below) <br /> Chair Dorosin called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. <br /> 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> Chair Dorosoin noted the following items at the Commissioners' places: <br /> - Green sheet: proposed Medicaid Resolution from Commissioner Rich <br /> - White sheet: PowerPoint for item 6-c <br /> PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> Chair Dorosin dispensed with the reading of the public charge. <br /> 2. Public Comments <br /> a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> None <br /> b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br /> (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda <br /> below.) <br /> 3. Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> Chair Dorosin recognized Bonnie Hammersley, who presented a novelty check to the <br /> Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) for the refinancing amount the Board will save over <br /> the term. She said this is a $2 million reduction, which the Board will pay toward debt <br /> financing. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs reminded the Board that Congressman David Price is hosting a <br /> breakfast to discuss the Farm Bill, on December 4 at the Whitted Building. He said this event <br /> is open to the public. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs said the Board sent out a reminder about GAP (Good <br /> Agricultural Practices) certification, and to apply for funding. He said this is based on the <br /> Board's desire to get local foods into the two school districts. <br />
