1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: December 4, 2017 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-e <br /> SUBJECT: Alliance for Historic Hillsborough Lease — Dickson House, 150 King Street, <br /> Hillsborough <br /> DEPARTMENT: County Attorney, <br /> Asset Management Services <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> 1) Site Illustration John Roberts, 919-245-2318 <br /> 2) Lease Agreement Jeff Thompson, 919-245-2658 <br /> PURPOSE: To: <br /> 1) consider a three year Lease Agreement with the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough for the <br /> Historic Dickson House, consisting of approximately 2,713 square feet of administrative, <br /> museum, and visitor's center space as well as the restroom and historic office <br /> outbuildings located at 150 East King Street, Hillsborough; and <br /> 2) authorize the Chair to execute the lease upon final County Attorney review. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Alliance for Historic Hillsborough (the "Alliance") has partnered with <br /> Orange County in managing the County owned Dickson House (See Attachment 1, "Site <br /> Illustration") since August, 1999. The leasehold is currently a month-to-month tenancy based <br /> upon the original lease and needs to be updated and secured under the attached contemplated <br /> Lease Agreement (See Attachment 2, "Lease Agreement"). <br /> The Lease Agreement contemplates a three year period beginning January 1, 2018 and ending <br /> December 31, 2020 with one optional one year renewal period: The County will be responsible <br /> for the building systems (roof, HVAC, plumbing, etc.), lawn mowing, and snow/ice removal. The <br /> Alliance will be responsible for its metered utilities, cleaning, and general interior upkeep of the <br /> spaces. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable to <br /> this item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding necessary for <br /> residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for themselves and their <br /> dependents. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The County would receive $260 per month, or a total of $9,360 for the <br /> three year lease period. <br />
