<br />Memorandum <br />Date: November 16, 2017 <br />To: Orange County Board of County Commissioners <br />From: Orange Unified Transportation Board <br />Subject: Comments Regarding the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan <br />Planning Organization’s 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan – <br />Preferred Option <br /> <br />The Orange Unified Transportation Board (OUTBoard) met Wednesday, November 15, <br />2017 and received a presentation from the Orange County Transportation Planning staff <br />regarding the Preferred Option for the DCHC MPO 2045 Metropolitan Transportation <br />Plan (MTP). The following comments are conveyed: <br />1. The LRT extension from Chapel Hill to Carrboro would better be served if it went <br />along Main Street and into downtown rather than Cameron Avenue. <br />2. We would like to see a bike and pedestrian path between Hillsborough and <br />Carrboro. <br />3. Hillsborough station is great and should be used often. Amtrak may provide only <br />two stops a day so it will need to be planned for more frequent use. <br /> <br /> <br />Orange Unified Transportation Board <br />Attachment 3 17
