ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: June 27, 2006 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. `Z- a <br />SUBJECT: Status Report on Middle College High School at Durham Technical Community <br />College -- <br />DEPARTMENT: County Manager PUBLIC HEARING: (YIN) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Middle College Fact Sheet <br />6/14/06 CHCCS Superintendent's <br />Middle College Status Memo <br />Excerpt on Middle College Status from <br />OCS Superintendent's 6/19/06 <br />Letter <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />.lohn Link, 245-2300 <br />PURPOSE: To receive a status report on activities, successes, challenges, and future plans <br />concerning the Middle College High School at Durham Technical Community College. <br />BACKGROUND: Dr, Charles Nolan, Principal of the Middle College High School at Durham <br />Technical Community College, will present a status report to the BOCC on issues related to <br />past, present and future activities at the Middle College, Dr, Nolan has provided cone-page <br />fact sheet in advance of his presentation, That fact sheet is attached. <br />In response to a request from the BOCC, the Superintendents from both the Chapel Hill- <br />Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS) and Orange County Schools (OCS) have provided <br />informational updates regarding their systems' work with the Middle College. These updates <br />are also attached, <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with the BOCC receiving the <br />status report on the Middle College. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the status report <br />and provide any comments or questions to Dr. Nolan and County staff. <br />
