PhF - ab1l 10 Ordinance#:ORD-2017-026 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORANGE COUNTY UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE WHEREAS, Orange County has initiated amendments to the Orange County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) to existing flood damage prevention regulations; and WHEREAS, the proposed amendment adopts by reference a new Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) as produced by the State of North Carolina and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); eliminates the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) Overlay District; relocates existing flood damage prevention regulations to a new section of the UDO; and updates/revise existing regulations to ensure consistency with FEMA and State standards; and WHEREAS, the proposal has been found to be consistent with the 2030 Orange County Comprehensive Plan, and WHEREAS, the requirements of Section 2.8 of the UDO have been deemed complete; and WHEREAS, the Board has found the proposed amendments to be reasonably necessary to promote the public health, safety, and general welfare. BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Orange County amends that the UDO is hereby amended as depicted in the attached pages. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED THAT this ordinance be placed in the book of published ordinances and that this ordinance is effective upon its adoption.
