ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Action Agenda
Item No
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: August 18, 1992
SUBJECT: GIS Continuation Agreement with E.S.R.I
1
-----------------------------
DEPARTMENT Central LandRecords PUBLIC HEARING: NO
----------------------------- --------------------------
ATTACHMENT(S) INFORMATION CONTACT
Roscoe Reeve, ext 2501
Cover Letter TELEPHONE NUMBER
Contract Hillsborough 732 -8181
Chapel Hill 968 -4501
Mebane 227 -2031
Durham 688 -7331
PURPOSE: To allow the Board of Commissioner's Chair to sign
a continuation Agreement with Environmental Systems Research
Institute (ESRI) for geographical information system (GIS)
hardware /software licensing and support services.
BACKGROUND: In 1990 the County and ESRI entered into
an Agreement for the purchase and installation of GIS
hardware /software and for on -going support services. Its term
was for 2 years. This new Agreement continues the licensing
of the GIS software with modifications and continues the
support services. The County has been designated in the new
licensing policies as a "11 to 25" site, which reduces the
County's costs for purchasing additional licenses.
While the new contract defines license purchases, new
purchases are not involved in this Agreement approval.
Purchases will be made in the normal budget /CIP process.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board
approve a Agreement with ESRI to continue licensing and
support services for 2 additional years, and approves the
signing of the Agreement by the Chair.
1
