Attachment 3 <br />C6360 -7/91 <br />DAY CARE COORDINATOR <br />GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: <br />Performs difficult professional work developing and coordinating day care service <br />programs; does related work as required. <br />Work is performed under general supervision. Supervision is exercised over <br />subordinate professional staff. <br />TYPICAL TASKS: <br />Manages, administers and supervises the Day Care Services Program; <br />Maximizes available subsidy dollars to serve eli6nible low income families; <br />Monitors and evaluates work of subordinate staff; <br />Directs maintenance of records; prepares reports on unit activities; <br />Responds to inquiries concerning unit activities; <br />Supervises and trains staff to provide counseling, supportive casework services, <br />information and referral and coordination between community day care providers <br />and families; - <br />Plans and coordinates technical assistance and training for day care staff; <br />Provides assistance in the development or expansion of quality day care; <br />Advocates and educates within the agency and the community for expanded subsidy <br />and services; <br />Counsels and directs staff who do CPS/Day Care investigations and to assist them in <br />developing corrective action plans which will enhance programs and make them safe; <br />Performs related tasks as required; <br />KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br />Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of social work; <br />thorough knowledge of the techniques and means of interviewing; thorough <br />knowledge of governmental and private community organizations and human - <br />service agencies; thorough knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies governing <br />day care programs and facilities; ability to counsel and conduct interviews of a <br />personal, sensitive nature; ability to understand client problems and needs; ability to <br />establish and maintain effective working relationships with County agencies, <br />officials, associates and general public; ability to communicate ideas clearly, <br />concisely and effectively, orally and in writing; ability to plan, assign, instruct and <br />supervise the work of others. <br />EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: <br />Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an <br />accredited college or university with major work in human relations, social work or <br />related field and at least 2 years experience in social work, child development and <br />financial management. <br />SPECIAL RE UIREMENTS: <br />Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina <br />
