BACKGROUND: The Personnel Department has completed a classification study of Social Worker II position number 603 in the Personal Services Division of the Health Department. This review was initiated because the duties and responsibilities of the Social Worker II position have changed since allocated to that class in April 1991. In April, 1991, the position functioned as a Social Worker II in the Maternal /Child Health section of the Personal Services Division.' Since then this position has been assigned supervisory responsibilities for two Social Workers II (Salary Grade 67) and two Community Health Assistants (Salary Grade 57). The positions work in the Maternal /Child Health Section with the Baby Love program. The Personnel Department requested a current position description for position 603 so that the classification of the position could reflect the supervisory duties assigned. The duties and responsibilities of the position were compared to those of positions in other classes in the Classification Plan. The study indicated that the duties and responsibilities of position 603 are comparable to those of the established class of Day Care Coordinator.
