ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Meeting Date: August 18, 1992 SUBJECT: Budget Ordinance Amendment #7 DEPARTMENT Budget ATTACHMENT(S) PUBLIC HEARING YES INFORMATION CONTACT NO Proposed Budget Amendments Budget Office, Extension 2150 Equipment Replacement/Building TELEPHONE NUMBER Repairs Capital Project Ordinance Hillsborough 732 -8181 Section 8 Program Block Grant Chapel Hill 968 -4501 Grant Project Ordinance Mebane 227 -2031 Durham 688 -7331 PURPOSE: To approve proposed budget, capital project and grant project ordinances BACKGROUND: 1 On Tune 29, 1992, the Orange County Board of Commissioners approved an agreement with Triangle J Council of Governments for the County to receive Home and Community Care Block Grant Funds. This amendment will budget for these grant funds. 2. The Orange County Rape Crisis Center has received notification of a Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant. This grant will be used to assist victims of sexual assault. No County match is required for this $26,242 grant. This amendment will budget for the receipt of these grant funds. 3. In order for the CAT program to receive the 24 passenger mini -bus that was included in the 1992 -93 Budget, NCDOT has asked Orange County to pay the dealership directly for the full cost of the vehicle and be reimbursed for 80 % of the cost. The County match for the purchase of the mini -van was included in the 1992 -93 budget for the Equipment ReplacementJBuilding Repairs Capital Project. This amendment will budget the reimbursement amount that is anticipated from the State with no additional County funds required. 4. Orange County Housing /Community Development has received notification from the State of the actual funding amount for the Existing "P010a and Voucher programs. The actual amount is higher than estimated at the time the budget and project ordinances were adopted. This increase in funding is not the result of an increase in the number of Section 8 units allocated to Orange County. The attached grant project ordinance will increase appropriated grant fiords by $60,025. RECOMMENDATION. The Manager recommends that the Board of Commissioners adopt the proposed Budget Ordinance Amendments, the Equipment Replacement/Building Improvements Capital Project Ordinance and the Section 8 Program Grant Grant Project Ordinance.
