(3 weeks)
Field Survey
September 21, 1992 to June 27, 1993
Using maps and research information, information will be recorded for
structures within each township. Townships will be used as a basic area of survey.
Each township will be completed before beginning the next area.
The survey process will use state forms to record information. Multiple
Structure Forms will be used when appropriate for areas with concentrations of
buildings. Historic Structure Short Data Sheets will be completed on the buildings
retaining historic or architectural integrity. Structures not found to have integrity or
historic value, will be coded in accordance with the State Historic Preservation
Office's map scheme. For historically or architecturally significant structures, Historic
Structure Data Sheets will be completed. Each recorded structure will be cross
referenced on USGS and aerial photo maps.
A sufficient number of black and white photographs (minimum of 2) showing
at least the principal facades and sites will be taken of all structures recorded on data
forms. Details and interior photographs will be taken as warranted. Significant
structures will include color slides. (38 weeks)
Final Report and Presentations June 28 to July 31, 1993
The completed historic overview will be finalized based on the field research.
The overview will integrate all the areas surveyed with recommendations for the
state Study List and local designations. An index will be created and any revisions to
forms will be made. Data will be provided to the State Division of Archives and
History and copies will be provided to Orange County.. The information will be in
both written format and available in a computerized database system. As a final
report, a historic overview of the area surveyed will be completed.
