T5
G -22. Sherwood Forest Sewer Assessment Project - Construction of
gravity sewer lines in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood (NC 54
East vicinity), per petition by a majority of property owners,
will provide a centralized collection system for this recently
annexed portion of Chapel Hill. Capital costs will be
recovered by OWASA through assessments to benefitting
properties.
G--23. Special Contributions to Construction (CTC) Projects in
Unsewered Areas - (The project item has been included to
reflect the Authority's commitment to provide service to
unsewered portions of Carrboro and Chapel Hill, to the extent
that OWASA obtains special contributions from grants, gifts,
or other sources external to its usual revenue stream.
specific projects will be defined as special contributions
become available.)
G -24. Sewer System Flow Monitoring - Installation of flow monitoring
devices at strategic locations in the collection system will
help identify areas where the correction of excessive
infiltration /inflow problems will be most beneficial.
H. WASTEWATER PUMP STATIONS AND FORCE
MAINS
H -1. Lift Station Pump Replacements and Improvements - Scheduled
maintenance and /or replacement of pumps and other equipment in
OWASA's 20+ pump and lift stations. Will help reduce repair
incidents and improve sewer service reliability.
H -2. Eastowne Pum Station Enlargement - Relocation and expansion
of the Eastowne Pump Station will help meet projected
wastewater disposal needs for this portion of the service
area. The present capacity of 600 gallons per minute (gpm)
will be increased to approximately 900 or 1,000 gpm. Further
details on scope and timing will be determined in conjunction
with adopted recommendations of Chapel Hill's Small Area Plan.
H -3. Heritage Hills.Force Main Replacement - Replacement of an old
8 -inch asbestos - concrete force main with 8 -inch ductile iron
pipe between the Heritage Hills subdivision and Smith Level
Road. Will reduce periodic leakage problems and improve sewer
system reliability in the University Lake watershed.
H -4. Rogerson Drive. Force Main Replacement - Replacement and upgrade
of approximately 10,000 feet of undersized force main between
the Rogerson Drive Pump Station and the Mason Farm Wastewater
Plant. Will reduce head loss at the pump station and alleviate
overflows along the Glen Lennox and Little Creek sewer lines.
Project details to be developed in conjunction with Rogerson
Drive Pump Station and Little Creek /Glen Lennox sewer
improvements (See also G -10 and H -6).
— 10 —
