12 .•
F. WATER TRANSMISSION AND
DISTRIBUTION LINES
F -1. South Columbia to manning Drive Phase II - Design of
approximately 5,000 feet of 24 -inch ductile iron water main
from the intersection of Cameron Avenue and Columbia Street to
the elevated storage tank near the hospital on Manning Drive.
The timing, scope, and route of this major project may be
modified by results of the distribution system analysis now
underway.
F -3. North Greensboro from Main Street in Carrboro to Estes Drive
Extension - Construction of approximately 3,000 feet of 12-
inch ductile iron water main will reinforce the distribution
system by paralleling the existing 6 -inch line.
F -6. Air ort Road from Stateside Drive to Rig sbee Mobile Home Park
- Construction of approximately 1,300 feet of 12 -inch ductile
iron main will reinforce the distribution system by providing
a service loop between existing lines in the 740 -fot pressure
district. Work to be coordinated with NCDOT wideninog of
Airport Road.
F -7. Estes Drive from East Franklin to 15 -501 ByRass - Construction
of approximately 3,100 feet of 16 -inch ductile iron main will
help optimize flows from the Manning Drive and Nunn Mountain
storage tanks to high demand service sectors. Associated
improvements will enable better control of excessive water
pressure at lower elevations in the distribution system.
F -10. U.S. 15 -501 South from Culbreth Road to Proposed Southern Tank
Site Near Star point -- Design and construction of approximately
12,000 feet of 12 -inch ductile iron transmission main to
provide improved fire flows and pressures in the southern
service area. In addition to serving the proposed storage
tank near Starpoint, this line will improve overall system
reliability by creating a major loop in the distribution
system. As with several other projects, timing and scope may
be modified per recommendations of the system analysis now
underway.
F -13. NC 54 East from Burning-Tree Drive to Laurel Hill Parkway -
Design and construction of approximately 4,600 feet of 12 -inch
ductile iron line will increase flows and pressure to areas
recently annexed by Chapel Hill and to projects underway near
the Friday Center. Additionally, this main will allow larger
water transfers between the OWASA and Durham systems during
periods of emergency need.
- 7 -
