Cane Creek Reservoir (Recreation) - Design and construction of
recreation facilities at Cane Creek Reservoir: parking,
picnicking, boat rental, concessions, and restrooms; office and
maintenance facilities to support OWASA field activities at dam
and reservoir, oversight of surrounding OWASA lands, and
general surveillance of watershed activity. Future work will
be programmed to remodel the existing Stanford House, remove
existing metal building, construct playground and provide
additional landscaping.
A- 1a.Cane Creek Reservoir (Operations) - Installation of fencing on
OWASA property at locations.where unauthorized public entry
poses ongoing risks to the reservoir's water quality integrity
and /or compromises the Authority's liability for public safety
at Cane Creek. Fencing to be installed only where other
security measures are inadequate.
A -2. OWASA
holds a Level II storage allocation of 10 million gallons per
day. Corps of Engineers Master Plan must be formally revised in
order to preserve long term water supply options at this
location. Preliminary engineering study of intake
siting /design has been completed to support such revision.
A -4. Stone Quarry Ac uisition - Pending a positive response to
Martin - Marietta's request to expand the American Stone Quarry
west of Carrboro, OWASA will begin making installment payments
on buffer lands pursuant to an agreement that will conclude
with the transfer to OWASA of a 3- billion gallon reservoir
(quarry pit) around the year 2030.
A -5. Watershed Preservation -- Cane Creek watershed study to be
conducted during FY 1993.
