Attachment 2 <br />CURRENT ARTICLE II SECTION 5.2 <br />OF THE ORANGE COUNTY PERSONNEL ORDINANCE <br />5.2 Temporary Appointment <br />By definition, a temporary appointment may not <br />exceed a six (6) month period. Exceptions may <br />be granted by the County Manager based on <br />written recommendations from the Department <br />outlining that circumstances warrant an <br />extension of temporary services. Such time <br />must be specified in writing to the Personnel <br />Department not to exceed twelve (12) months. <br />A temporary appointment may be made to a <br />permanent or temporary position. <br />Individuals may be candidates for a <br />Probationary appointment to classes for which <br />they qualify. These individuals must compete <br />with all other applicants for probationary <br />appointments. <br />Temporary Appointment includes social security <br />(FICA) match and Worker's Compensation <br />Insurance. It does not include other fringe <br />benefits such as vacation, sick leave, <br />holidays, retirement, health insurance, etc. <br />CURRENT ARTICLE T SECTION 4.37 <br />OF THE ORANGE COUNTY PERSONNEL ORDINANCE <br />4.37 Temporary Employee - a non - permanent employee <br />appointed to serve in a position for a period <br />of six (6),calendar months or less. <br />
