CHANGING CONDITIONS
As we near the end of the 20th Century, an increasing number of families
everywhere are dissatisfied with the current living conditions they find in
urban areas. Street crime, traffic congestion and the decay in the urban
infrastructure cause them to look elsewhere for an environment more
suited to the needs of families of all sizes and ages. More and more,
people are turning back with a sense of of nostalgia to the values
suggested by images of the 19th Century village, and to the advantages of
living in a small town environment.
University Station is planned to satisfy this desire for a simpler life in a
smaller place: a place where traffic is quiet, where families can walk the
streets or sit in the park, where children can play, where most o the
necessities can be found within a short walk. In short, University Station
is planned for people, not for automobiles, and for the enhancement of the
quality of family life and the convenience and gratification of a broad and
diverse mix of families and individual residents.
