The planning will be characterized by: <br />• Siting of the village center on high ground, as in 19th century <br />precedents. <br />• A regular street grid in the village center to facilitate <br />internal transportation. <br />• Provision, in the village center, of necessary commercial and <br />common facilities to minimize off -site trips. <br />• A village square, with traditional uses. <br />Short blocks and narrow streets with two traffic lanes and <br />diagonal parking. <br />• Mixed uses and building types, not separated by zoning. <br />• Mixed cost range for housing types. <br />• Housing over shops and other commercial spaces. <br />• Narrow lots. <br />• Lots dedicated to churches, daycare and community center and <br />other common uses. <br />• Minimum setbacks. <br />• Street lighting for pedestrians. <br />Golf clubhouse within walking distance of village square and <br />shops. <br />• All facilities clustered for maximum walking distance of <br />1,350 feet. <br />• Site reserved for light rail station on Southern RR line <br />within walking distance of village square. <br />• Retention, where possible, of existing historical buildings <br />and other features, roads, etc., to preserve historic context. <br />• Occ2sional irregularity within regular grid pattern. <br />On, <br />
