This budget
amendment will budget for. the receipt of these funds.
2. Orange County receives money from the State on a per capita basis from the State's 1 % tax on the sale of new tires.
These funds are passed on to the Town of Chapel Hi11 to be used to partially offset the cost of scrap tire disposal
at the Orange County Landfill. This amendment will budget for the receipt of $51,600 in State funds for scrap tire disposal
3. During 1991 -92, the Sheriffs Department initiated two new revenue generating programs which benefit the County
and inmates housed in the Jail. A pay telephone system, which charges inmates by the minute, will yield
an estimated $16,000 of new revenue this year. An additional $45, 000 in revenue will be generated
by a new inmate canteen service. The receipt of these additional revenues and associated expenditures will be
budgeted with this amendment.
4. The Orange County Health 1epartment has received notification of supplemental State Maternal Child Health
Block Grant Funds. This award totals $12,069. The department has also received additional State Food and Lodging funds
m the amount of $3,386 and $1,300 in School Health Funds. No additional County dollars will be needed in order
to receive these funds.
S. On June 1, 1992, the Board of Commissioners appropriated funds from the Contingency account. This amendment
allocates those funds to JOCCA ($4,714) to alleviate their anticipated 1991 -92 year end deficit; to the
Chapel Hill Senior Center ($4,455) to assist with lease payments of the Chapel Hill Senior Center; and
to the Planning Department for additional compensation for the consultant for the
New Hope Creek Coxrider Open Space Master Plan ($2,638).
6.
