2
Since the May 4 Commissioners meeting, the public
hearing on the proposed amendment to Article
2.2.14.3 has been held. Revisions to the proposal
have been suggested, however, to allow the
Commissioners to set special hearings on principal
amendments, but only at another quarterly public
hearing; e.g., May, August, and November. A Board of
Commissioners decision on the amendment is projected
for August 3.
Because of the revisions, discussions have been held
with the University Station applicants to determine
if an August 24 public hearing on the Comprehensive
Plan amendment, coupled with a November 24 hearing
on the Planned Development application, would be
workable in terms of satisfying option commitments
[see Option E]. The applicants have indicated that
the option is workable, provided a Board of
Commissioners decision could be expected before
Christmas of 1992.
Because of the projected approval date [August 3]
for the amendment to Article 2.2.14.3, the scheduled
public hearing date [June 29] for the University
Station project must be changed. The attached
schedule lists various public hearing options for
consideration of the University Station project by
the Planning Board and Board of Commissioners. In
each case, consideration of the Planned Development
application would be contingent upon the Board of
Commissioners approving the Comprehensive Plan
amendment. Also, the N.C. General Statutes require
that each public hearing be advertised, for the
first time, not less than 10 nor more than 25 days
before the date of the hearing.
RECOM ONDATION: As the Board decides.
