Europa' <br />' <br />CHAPEL HILL — Group Insur- <br />ance Administrators is relocat- <br />ing from Topeka, Kansas, to <br />phase U of the Europa Center. <br />The company will employ about j <br />40 people, half of whom are ex- <br />pected to be hired locally.,, <br />The firm will occupy about <br />' <br />8,800 square feet on the second <br />floor of the building. <br />Group Insurance Administra- <br />tors contracts with other insur- <br />ance companies to process and <br />pay claims. Since about 90 pert. <br />cent of its work comes from the <br />' <br />South'.and Southeast, it was ad- <br />vantageous to relocate to the <br />Triangle, said Ted Abernathy, <br />' <br />director of the Orange County <br />Economic development Com- <br />mission. <br />GIA officials also noted the <br />climate and re- <br />public schools, <br />' <br />gional factors such as the air- <br />I <br />port and favorable state laws <br />concerning the insurance Indus- <br />' <br />try as reasons for the move. <br />I I <br />I I <br />I I <br />I I <br />
