The News & Observer <br />March 22, 1992 <br />� Triangle Hospice raising <br />1 <br />to purchase new home <br />By TODD COHEN <br />Staff writer <br />Triangle Hospice Inc., which <br />helps care for and support termi- <br />nally ill people and their families <br />in Durham, Orange and Granville <br />counties, is getting a new home. <br />For the first time, the non - profit <br />agency now will be able to care <br />directly for patients at its own <br />Facility as well as in their homes. <br />Beginning in June, the organiza- <br />tion will launch a $l million <br />capital campaign that will take <br />three years to complete. Of the <br />money raised, $1.5 million would <br />finance the purchase of the Mead- <br />owlands, a brick home built in <br />1890 in rural Orange County near <br />Durham County. It also would <br />finance construction of a wing to <br />house patients, and renovation of <br />a -barn to serve as offices. The <br />remaining $300,000 would be used <br />fur an endowment to finance the. <br />cost of bereavement counseling <br />aW care for poor people. <br />The Major Campaign Review <br />Board, a voluntary organization <br />that helps plan and schedule <br />capital campaigns of $500,000 or <br />more, has given the go -ahead to <br />the Triangle Hospice campaign. <br />Capital Consortium Inc., a fund- <br />raising consultant in Raleigh, is <br />advising Triangle Hospice. <br />,Triangle Hospice, located in <br />Darhaln near South Square Mall. <br />ci'i'tploys a professional staff of •_'3 <br />piWple and has a volunteer staff o1' <br />niore than 150 people, Its annual <br />htrdget is about $1.4 million- <br />The Meadowlands in Orange County is destined to be home to <br />Triangle Hospice, which is raising $2 million in capital campaign <br />Martha G. Peck, executive di- <br />rector of the Burroughs Wellcome <br />Fund in Research Triangle Park, <br />has been re- elected chairman of <br />the board of trustees of the South- <br />eastern Council of Foundations. <br />The council, an affiliate of the <br />Council on Foundations in Wash- <br />ington, is a voluntary member- <br />ship association of charitable do- <br />nor organizations. The Burroughs <br />Wellcome Fund is the endowment <br />of Burroughs Wellcome Co., the <br />pharmaceutical company in RTP. <br />
