DTS Language Services (Chapel Hill) <br />Helped management team successfully negotiate a buyout from owners <br />of business. Support included valuation data and construction of <br />financial projections. Secured 12 professional jobs. <br />2. Triem Manufacturing (Carrboro) <br />Through work with one of our student intern teams, this company <br />restructured their production and marketing operations to achieve <br />greater margins. This particular student team won the statewide <br />competition sponsored by ourselves and Peat Marwick. <br />3. VoxNet (Hillsborough) <br />Owner, Gilbert Baumann, was interviewed by the Chapel Hill Herald <br />for an article on the SBTDC. In addition to business plan assis- <br />tance, we helped this business construct an agreement with a na- <br />tional sales company in Ohio and a franchise network in Europe. <br />4. InfoAmerica (Chapel Hill) <br />After assisting with the internal structuring of the business, we <br />facilitated this marketing research company getting several con- <br />tracts, including one with a technology company in RTP. <br />5. West Franklin Preservation Partners (Chapel Hill) <br />For the Pavilion On Franklin project, the SBTDC is providing sup- <br />port to complete a feasibility study. We have committed 240 hours <br />to this research. <br />6. Center Cafe (Chapel Hill) <br />We provided in depth, long term consulting which resulted in this <br />client getting a direct SBA loan in the amount of $61,000 to estab- <br />lish their business in the Europa Center. This was one of only 12 <br />SBA direct loans in 1991. <br />7. Aqueduct Conference Center (Chapel Hill) <br />Through an indepth study of operations and marketing, the SBTDC <br />helped this client establish a marketing plan including a prospect- <br />ing system to bring in new conference groups. <br />
