A RESOLUTION PREPARED BY SCRAP <br />(STOP COUNTY REGIONAL AIRPORT PROPOSAL) <br />FOR CONSIDERATION BY THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />WHEREAS the Orange County Board of Commissioners has already <br />invested two years and-'$94,000.00 of taxpayers' money to search <br />for a suitable site for a general aviation airport and found <br />none; <br />WHEREAS the Board of Commissioners, as a result of that <br />search, determined in 1989 that there is no suitable <br />site in Orange County for a n -ew or relocated general <br />aviation airport; <br />WHEREAS the completion of I -40 has made Raleigh- Durham <br />International Airport a proximate and convenient air- <br />port to Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and the University of <br />North Carolina at Chapel Hill; <br />WHEREAS the University of North Carolina and the Coor- <br />dination and Consultation Committee have reopened the <br />question of the relocation of Horace Williams Airport <br />and are requesting that the County again invest tax- <br />payer funds in a new search process; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County <br />Board of Commissioners shall appropriate no more money <br />for the purpose of considering, or searching for a site <br />for, a new or relocated airport in Orange County; nor <br />shall the Board depute any member of this 'Board, any <br />County employee, or private citizen, to participate in <br />any airport relocation process. <br />Hillsborough <br />June 1, 1992 <br />Submitted for SCRAP by Les Brown, Executive Chair, and endorsed <br />by the SCRAP Executive Committee: Bob Ferguson, Marylin Hervieux, <br />Michael King Jolly, Carol Jones, Ron Kumin, Madeline G.
