Capital Area <br />Manufactured Housing Association is not opposed to financial <br />support: of public education by the citizense both private and <br />corporate. public education in North Carolina needs much time, <br />money and attention to improve the performance of our students. <br />However, it appears that the Orange County proposal for impact <br />fees singles out new residential construction as a way to pay <br />for the education of all children.. This certainly seems unfair <br />and discriminatory. <br />The manufactured housing industry works everyday to make <br />safe, attractive and durable housing more affordable for people <br />who want to own a home. It appears that impact fees, in the <br />amounts being proposed, will certainly make it much more <br />difficult for working people to qualify for a loan to purchase <br />any home. <br />We are also concerned that the proposed fee schedule showed <br />a higher fee for a three bedroom manufactured home than for <br />a three bedroom single family home. This seems odd and would <br />appear to further discriminate against manufactured housing. <br />We would like to register our opposition to the proposed <br />fees as we understand them today.
