12� <br />i <br />THE TASK FORCE FOR THE FUTURE OF HUMAN SERVICES <br />,THE ROLE OF THE COORDINATING COUNCIL <br />IN THE HUMAN. SERVICES NETWORK <br />May, 1992 <br />Statement of Pur2ose• <br />The overall goal of the Coordinating Council is to enable <br />the human services system to work towards making the human <br />services mission statement (see attachment) a reality. <br />This goal will be accomplished by improving the exchange of <br />information at the funder level and by creating an ongoing <br />environmental scanning process. <br />Structure of the Coordinating Council: <br />Each of the following organizations will appoint two <br />representatives to the Coordinating Council. The <br />representatives may include employees, volunteers, or <br />elected officials. <br />- The Association of Community Agencies <br />- The Town of Carrboro <br />- The Town of Chapel Hill <br />- Orange County <br />- The United Way of Greater orange County <br />In addition, the Assistant County Manager, the Director of <br />the United Way, and the Human Services Coordinator for the <br />Town of Chapel Hill_ will serve as ex officio members of the <br />Coordinating-Council if they are not appointed as <br />representatives. <br />The Council will select a Chair who will set the agendas <br />and lead the meetings. The Chair will also delegate to ex <br />officio members the responsibilities of taking minutes, <br />sending notifications, and providing other staff support. <br />The term of the Chair will last one year. <br />At a minimum, the Coordinating Council will hold quarterly <br />meetings. <br />
