4 <br />MAY 10 THROUGH MAY 16, 1992 <br />WHEREAS, <br />Governor James G. Martin has proclaimed the week of May 10 through <br />May 16, 1992, as Emergency Medical Services Week in North <br />Carolina, and <br />WHEREAS, <br />The Emergency Medical Service in Orange County is a complex system <br />involving Telecommunicators, First Responders, Law Enforcement <br />Officers, Nurses, Doctors, County Staff and Volunteers from Orange <br />County and South Orange Rescue Squads, and <br />WHEREAS, <br />These people must attend many hours of training in addition to <br />hours of service, and <br />WHEREAS, <br />They place themselves in peril to provide emergency assistance to <br />the sick and injured in Orange County, and <br />WHEREAS, <br />The citizens of the County have supported the E.M.S. service <br />through both taxes and donations, and <br />WHEREAS, <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners publicly acknowledge <br />their support and appreciation to all the members of the Orange <br />County Emergency Medical Services System, NOW <br />THEREFORE, <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners hereby proclaim the week <br />of May 10 through 16, 1992, as EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK and <br />encourages all citizens of Orange County to continue to support <br />their E.M.S. system. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />C. NATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION WEEK <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner <br />Halkiotis to adopt the proclamation designating May 10 - 16, 1992, as <br />National Historic Preservation Week as stated below: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />OF THE <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />NATIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION WEEK <br />WHEREAS, historic preservation allows Americans to experience their diverse <br />heritage and culture; and <br />WHEREAS, historic preservation enhances the quality of life in cities, <br />towns, and rural areas across America; and <br />WHEREAS, Orange County is committed to preserving its historic cultural <br />resources for its citizens and future generations; and <br />WHEREAS, "Preservation Brings History to Life" is the theme for National <br />Historic Preservation Week 1992, co- sponsored by the Orange County <br />Historic Preservation Commission and the National Trust for <br />Historic Preservation; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Orange County Board of Commissioners does hereby proclaim <br />May 10 -16, 1992 as National Historic preservation Week in <br />celebration of the cultural heritage of Orange County and hereby <br />urges all citizens to support historic preservation efforts. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />
