01 <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No V11- <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: April 21, 1992 <br />SUBJECT: Municipal Recreation and Library Support <br />DEPARTMENT County Manager PUBLIC HEARING YES- NO X- <br />- <br />ATTACHMENT(S) INFORMATION CONTACT - <br />Report County Manager, ext 2300 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBER <br />Hillsborough 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968 -4501 <br />Mebane 227 -2031 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />------------------------------------------ ---------------------- <br />PURPOSE: To provide a report to the Board concerning County financial <br />support for municipal recreation and library programs. <br />BACKGROUND: Each year, the orange County Board of Commissioners has <br />appropriated certain funds for the recreation programs of Chapel Hill, <br />Carrboro, and Mebane, and to the Chapel Hill and Mebane libraries. <br />These funds are intended to support operation of municipal programs <br />that are used by residents of the unincorporated portions of Orange <br />County on the same basis as by municipal residents. <br />The attached report provides additional background on County support of <br />municipal recreation and library programs and identifies a number of <br />issues that should be addressed as the Board of Commissioners considers <br />funding for these programs during 1992 -93 budget deliberations in June. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive the <br />report for information only at this time. <br />
