Our draft feasibility study
indioates a peak day demand of 1.2 mgd by the year 2000. Extra-
polating the growth until 7003 provides a peak day demand of 1.35
mgd. Taking into account an existing supply of 0.65 mgd and a
continued decline in well production, a proposed supply supple_
Mont is as follows:
M nimum Daily GPD
Maximum DailX GPD
1993
1994
25,000
300,000
1995
25,000
50,000
300,400
1994
1997
500000
300,000
30Q,OQ0
1999
50,000
50,000
440,000
1999
2000
50,000
400,040
SOO,OQQ
2041
750000
75,000
SpQ,OQO
2002
75,00*
600,000
6000400
A minimum daily demand is recommended in order to provide OWASA a
base Source of revenue and to insure a constant ttquurnover of water
in the interconnection line. The fact that Chatham County will
have a 1.1 million gallon storage tank at an elevation that water
can be forwarded back to OWASA during an emergency may be of
interest to you.
The proposed interconnection location would be near the
Orahge /Chatham county line at 13 -501. Chatham County would
extend a 12" line from the existing system to this location.
I would appreciate an opportunity for our staff to make a presen-
tation to the OWASA Board and the elected boards for Orange
County, Chapel Hilt and Carrboro. We want to be sure that you
understand fully the nature of our problem.
Pleas* let me
Information.
Sin *rely,
't "l
m
Chaixti on a rd
know if you have questions or desire further
Of Commissioners
