GUNN
eow-v Ano-gy
Phone (919)'542.6200
Dear Lois:
In response to your request I am providing additional information
concerning our request for a supplemental water supply from
ONA".
Effective this summer, Chatham County will have a total daily
supply availability of 865,000 gallons, 5Q0,000ev fro m wells in
water plant and the remaining 365,000 gpd s en
the North Chatham area. our current average day demand is
294,975 gallons, While the peak day event is 4800410 gallons.
In addition to the supply and demand conditions, Chatham County
expects to have a 1.1 million gallon storage tank operational by
the fall of 1992. The overflow elevation on this tank will be
+ -740.0 once co:apletely filled. The size of this tank provides
over three days storage, based upon normal demand. The North
ChatWo system has a factor of safety of 1.8 between the peak day
event and supply availability. However, based upon an additional
goo+ vacant lots in the North Chatham system already permitted
for public water supply, the State Water Supply section has taken
a more restrictive posture. Based upon their interpretation of
the 400 gpd /250 gpd Per dwelling and vacant lot rule, Chatham
County currently needs over 900,000 gpd supply availability.
If a mid term supply agreement can be achieved, it is Chatham
County's desire to.have a water plant near Lake Jordan
