Dyer Telephone: 919/967 -1545 <br />Executive Director FAX: 919/968 -4030 <br />ANNUAL REPORT <br />July 1, 1990 through June 30, 1991 <br />A Little History <br />In July, 1989, the mayors of Chapel Hill and Carrboro and the Chair of the Orange <br />County Commissioners announced the joint appointment of a steering committee whose <br />task it will be to form a new housing development corporation to serve Orange County. <br />Steering Committee members are drawn from the Orange County Low and Moderate <br />Income Housing Task Force and the Public- Private Partnership's subcommittee on <br />housing. <br />The - Coordinator for the steering committee was provided by Community Housing <br />Alternatives, owners of a Section 202 project in Chapel Hill, with funds from a grant from <br />the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. Additional staff assistance was provided by Orange <br />County, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro. <br />During that year, the steering committee completed the organizational activities that <br />resulted in the incorporation of Orange Community Housing Corporation (OCHC), and <br />turned to obtaining operating funds for the corporation. <br />1990 -91 Administrative Activities <br />For fiscal year 1990 -91, funding was awarded from Orange County, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, <br />and Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. In August, 1990, OCHC advertised for an Executive <br />Director. Office space was leased at 116B West Main Street in Carrboro, and in October, <br />1990, OCHC held its first annual meeting and elected officers and a Board of Directors <br />for the coming year. <br />After an intensive search with over 100 applicants, the Board of Directors selected its first <br />Executive Director, Donna Dyer. With eight years of experience in housing and economic <br />development finance with the City of Durham, Ms. Dyer brings to OCHC an extensive <br />knowledge of funding programs for low -cost housing development and experience with <br />both rental and homeownership projects funded by Durham's housing bond program. <br />The Executive Director began work in January, 1991, and the office opened for business. <br />In the first months, Ms. Dyer established and upfit the office space, purchased supplies <br />
