Elm St. <br />Graham, NC 27253 <br />Dear Mr. Smith: <br />Our office recently received a letter from the president of <br />Orange - Alamance Water System, Inc. notifying us of the planned <br />abandonment of Haw Creek Reservoir as a raw water impoundment. I <br />am enclosing a copy of that letter as well as an agreement between <br />Orange - Alamance Water System and the cities of Graham and Mebane, <br />which assures that the Graham -- Mebane Reservoir is sufficient to <br />meet their future water supply needs. <br />Orange -- Alamance Water System, Inc. has requested that the Haw <br />Creek watershed no longer be protected as a future potable water <br />supply source in the Division of Environmental Management's <br />schedule of classifications and water quality standards.
