• RSVP PROJECT DIRECTOR <br />GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: <br />Performs difficult professional work providing direct supervision of the RSVP <br />Program; does related work as required. <br />Work is performed under regular supervision. Supervision is exercised over project <br />assistant, subordinate clerical personnel and volunteers. <br />TYPICAL TASKS: <br />Plans, organizes and directs the County RSVP Program; <br />Recruits, orients and places senior volunteers; <br />Maintains accurate records of volunteer activities; <br />Prepares reports to document project functions and status; <br />Initiates and renews memoranda of understanding with volunteer stations; <br />Coordinates recognition event(s) for program volunteers; <br />Visits volunteer stations; recruits volunteers; <br />Attends project meetings and training sessions; <br />Assists in promoting community support for the program including media contacts; <br />Seeks new volunteer stations; fills agency requests for volunteers; <br />Works with advisory committee and conducts an evaluation of the program; <br />Plans and administers major projects throughout the year; <br />Writes grant applications; establishes goals and objectives in compliance with <br />Federal guidelines; <br />Obtains local financial support for program; <br />Prepares and administers program budget and monitors expenditures; <br />Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates subordinate-staff and volunteers; <br />Provides training of volunteer station managers and volunteers; <br />Performs related tasks as required. <br />KNOWLEDGES SKILLS AND ABILITIES: <br />Thorough knowledge of the problems faced by elderly persons; thorough knowledge of <br />community organizations; thorough knowledge of budget and grant preparation; <br />thorough knowledge of techniques used to recruit and train volunteers; ability to <br />establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, professional <br />personnel, associates and the general public; ability to attend to the needs of others, <br />to converse with people and to convey or exchange information; ability to recruit, <br />train and motivate volunteers; ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in <br />writing. <br />EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: <br />Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an <br />accredited college or university with major course work in social services or related <br />field and at least 1 year experience in working with older adults and supervising <br />others. <br />(SEE Pg. 8-A, 2.c.) 12. <br />
