Thank you for continuing to support the Optional Wastewater
Treatment goal and for giving the Community Health Advocacy
Program (CHAP) "honorable mention."
2. We wish to call your attention to the following issues:
2.1 The plan of action for the Optional Wastewater
Treatment goal is becoming critical in order to prepare
to meet the new state regulations which go into effect
by July, 1992.
2.2 If the Monitoring and Maintenance Assurance (MAMA)
Program and a management entity are not ready to be
implemented in June, owners wishing to install a low
pressure pipe system (LLP) in Orange County may have
difficulty obtaining a permit for the lack of a
management entity.
2.3 In approving several versions of the MAMA Program, the
Board of Health has authorized the Health Department to
be a management entity for selected systems.
2.4 Additional fee - supported manpower will be needed to
accomplish the work.
2.5 However, the budget presented by the Health Director to
the Board of Health did not contain a new position
request for an Environmental Health Specialist because
the program has not yet received your support.
SOUTHERN ORANGE OFFICE: Carr Mill Mall, Suite 225. 100 N. Greensboro St, Carrboro, N.C. 27510, (919) 968.2022
