RESOLUTION IN MEMORY OF BRIAN BENSON <br />WHEREAS, Brian Benson joined the Triangle J Council of <br />Governments in 1985 as a Senior Planner in Physical Development <br />and was promoted to the position of Director of Land Use and <br />Development, serving with distinction until his untimely death on <br />February 18, 1992; and <br />WHEREAS, Brian Benson worked diligently to coordinate local <br />and regional planning issues and led the development of the <br />Geographic Information System at the Triangle J Council of <br />Governments; and <br />WHEREAS, Brian Benson effectively staffed the Regional <br />Appearance Commission and the Triangle Development Awards program <br />and served on other regional committees concerned with land use, <br />transportation, and community appearance; and <br />WHEREAS, Brian Benson rendered distinguished service to Orange <br />County as a land use and community development planner from 1978 <br />to 1980, and authored successful Community Development Block Grants <br />during each year of his tenure with the Orange County Planning <br />Department, thereby contributing to neighborhood revitalization in <br />the county; and <br />WHEREAS, Brian Benson was a dedicated, energetic and highly <br />talented professional who worked well with public and private <br />leaders and planners all over the Triangle region; and <br />WHEREAS, we, along with his family, friends and colleagues, <br />shall deeply miss his cooperative, warm and kind nature; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners that the Board hereby honors the public service of <br />BRIAN BENSON <br />and urges all citizens to remember him and his contributions to the <br />people of Orange County and the Triangle region. <br />This the 9th day of March, 1992. <br />i— A *0F, <br />
