TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />-- Draft of Selection Letter Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />-- Draft of Letter to Durham- 688 -7331 <br />Applicants Not Selected Mebane -227 -2031 <br />Chapel Hill- 967- 9251/968 -4501 <br />PURPOSE: To consider attached applications for selection of members to <br />the Orange County Solid Waste Committee. <br />BACKGROUND: The Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution <br />establishing an Orange County Solid Waste Committee at <br />their regular meeting, January 21, 1992. The Public Works <br />Department subsequently began solicitation for members to <br />serve on the Committee, with an application deadline of <br />February 21, 1992. It has been recommended that the <br />Committee be comprised of one member from each township <br />and one each from the Planning Board, Board of Health, <br />Economic Development Commission and Chapel Hill Solid <br />Waste Reduction Task Force. Number of applications from <br />each township are as follows: <br />Cedar Grove - 4 Hillsborough -2 <br />Little River - 2 Eno - 1 <br />Cheeks - 3 Bingham - 5 <br />Chapel Hill - 7 <br />Applications also include those from members of advisory <br />boards recommended by each advisory board chair. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Manager recommends that Board of County <br />Commissioners select members to serve on the Orange <br />County Solid Waste Committee at this point on the <br />agenda, or during the appointment section of the <br />agenda. Manager also recommends that the Board provide <br />review and comments on attached letters and authorize <br />chair to sign. <br />
