Box 8181 <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />RE: Orange County Government Services Center <br />Project #9010 <br />STAINED GLASS PANELS <br />M <br />architects • engineers • planners <br />Dear Pam: <br />We recently completed interviewing the artists for the proposed stained glass windows for the <br />Orange County Government Services building. <br />The interview /selection process was as follows: <br />1. A list of local stained glass artists was generated by the Orange County Arts Commission <br />and from respondents to the article which appeared in the newspaper after the County <br />Commissioners' meeting. <br />2. Letters were sent out to eight local artists from Orange County (copy attached) requesting <br />letters of interest and qualifications to design and execute the proposed work. Of <br />the four artists who responded, three were selected to participate in a 45- minute <br />interview at our office. <br />3. The selection committee (Katherine M. Nelson, representing the Orange County Arts <br />Commission, Glenn Corley, and myselO conducted interviews on January 27, <br />1992. The committee unanimously selected the team of Michael Brown and Jim <br />Rothbauer to recommend for approval by the County Commissioners. Upon your <br />instructions, we will inform the artists as to our recommendation. <br />4. To complete this phase of the process, we will request that the selected team provide us <br />with a proposal to complete the work within the following parameters: <br />Aluminum & insulated glass <br />window wall modifications: <br />$ 2,443 <br />Hakan /Carley Design and <br />coordination fee: <br />2,000 <br />Seven pieces of artwork: <br />2100 <br />$ 11,543 <br />M.J.
