Orange County Recreation and Parks Department
Nc Post Office Box 8181 * Hillsborough, North Carolina 27278
Mary Anne Black, Director February 7, 1338
Mr. Moses Carey, Chairman
Board of County Commissioners
P. D. PON al al
Hillsborough, North Carolina 27278
Dear Moses,
3
Life.Beinit.
On Tuesday night, the Recreation h Parks Advisory Council
discussed the Commissioners` decision to sell the county's
two acre site on Frazier Road. The Council regt.tests that
while the sale is pending, you pursue, our recommendation to
lease the property to the Ferry Hills Horne ►owners Association.
'This would allow use of the property during the time it is on
the market and while negotiations are underway. The lease
could be written to immediately terminate upon notice from
the County.
Pursuing this lease arrangement will show the County's
willingness to assist the Ferry Hills residents to provide
for themselves a safe place for their children to play. If
the County does pursue this lease arrangrnent, we would
request that the minor work needed to seed the cleared area
and fill in any low spots holding water be accomplished by
the county before the ]ease takes effect. This would allow
for the children to have an open, grassy field to play on.
This lease, of course, is riot feasible without the Ferry
Hills residents forming a Homeowners Association, but our-
offer to assist is important.
Please do not hesitate to call me if I can answer any
questions you may haver.
Sincerely,
AtA Oddty
Susan Waldrop, Chair
Orange County Recreation A Parks Advisory Council
xci RPAC Members
MaryAnnte• S.
