MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Orange County Board of commissioners <br />John Link C�t`y age <br />FROM: Marvin Collins, Planning Director <br />SUBJECT: Proposed Amendments - Minimum Housing Code <br />DATE: February 24, 1992 <br />COPIES: Geoffrey Gledhill, County Attorney <br />Tara Fikes, Housing & Community Development Director <br />Gary Lance, Code Enforcement Supervisor <br />Julie Kelly, Planner II, Current Planning Division <br />Attached is a revised version of the above mentioned <br />amendments which were distributed to you on Thursday, February 20. <br />As noted in the agenda abstract, the ordinance was reformatted and <br />text added to simplify interpretation and insure consistency with <br />the N.C. State Building Code. <br />To insure that the changes were consistent with the enabling <br />legislation, the County Attorney, Housing & Community Development <br />Director, Planner II, and I met today to review the ordinance. <br />Several needed changes were identified, including the following: <br />1. The following definitions were deleted because they <br />addressed issues not covered by the current ordinance <br />and /or were not consistent with the enabling legislation: <br />Administrator Building materials <br />Junk Natural person <br />Rental dwelling Yard <br />2. The following definitions were added and /or amended to be <br />consistent with the existing ordinance and /or enabling <br />legislation: <br />Dwelling Manufactured home or mobile home <br />Owner Rooming house <br />Temporary housing <br />3. Inconsistencies in article /section numbering were <br />discovered, beginning with Article VIII, and corrected. <br />4. Section 12.2 [formerly Section 11.2], Basis For <br />Inspections, was amended to be consistent with the <br />wording in the enabling legislation [G.S. 160A -443]. <br />
